I thought about what name my domain should have for a long time. I wanted something neutral, but something that was me as well. Since "I'm still breathing" is my standard answer to people who ask me how I am, I figured still-breathing was the perfect choice.
80HG Productions is an invention of the year 2007. I had long searched for a name that would include all my productions. 80HG, or Hg 80, designates the element Mercury on the Periodic Table of the Elements; 80 is the atomic number, Hg the element's symbol. While I like chemistry, it's the 'Mercury' that was really important to me. On the one hand, it is my tribute to Freddie Mercury. On the other hand, it hints at both our zodiac signs and its ruling planet Mercury. I don't believe in astrology, but I think it's a very good symbol.
The current layout features Justin Kirk as Prior Walter in the screen version of Tony Kushner's play "Angels in America" directed by Mike Nichols. The site has had "Angels in America" layouts for years and I am not sure this is ever going to change. I read the plays years ago and fell madly in love with them. They had a big impact on my life and my way of thinking - I believe "Angels in America" is one of the most beautiful and touching works ever. And luckily, the amazing and visually stunning screen version made it a lot easier for me to create "Angels in America" layouts. The quotes on the left are from "Angels in America" as well.
